There are no celebrities to be found here. No one to get a selfie with to post online, to make your friends green with envy. Just local people sharing their everyday lives, in the own words, for authentic encounters with the real Japan that you won’t find in textbooks or guidebooks.

We hope to be the bridge connecting cultures, giving the people of Ishikawa a chance to share their beloved home, while offering visitors a chance to peek behind the curtain and see a side of Japan that most tourists never encounter. Many of our guests do ask for photos together with the people they met, but not to show off to others — rather, as a truly cherished personal memento for themselves.

Maki-e Experience

Try your hand at maki-e, a traditional technique where designs are drawn with wet lacquer and sprinkled with powdered gold, silver, or tin. In this artisan-led workshop, you’ll decorate chopsticks or a soup bowl using authentic methods.

Yuzen Dyeing

Discover the beauty and vitality of nature through a Yuzen dyeing workshop led by Japanese textile artist Ai Inoue. Learn her unique approach and create your own Yuzen dyeing items under Ai’s expert guidance!

Stencil Painting

Katazome is a versatile Japanese stencil-dyeing art used for fabrics like kimonos. Make your own wrapping cloths (furoshiki) with Kanazawa artist Saki Kitamura, who blends traditional katazome with yokai‑inspired designs for a uniquely otherworldly touch.
