Home Cooking Workshops
Cooking, Eating, and Living Like a Local

We believe that learning about food is fundamentally akin to learning about how life is lived in a place. What people eat, how they prepare it, and who they eat with are all reflections of the local climate, history, family values, and rhythms of life.
Our cooking workshops are led by friendly local home cooks, and are designed to be more than just cooking classes. Whether solo, as couples, or as friend groups or families, guests can prepare popular everyday Japanese home-cooked dishes, while learning real-life cooking techniques in a relaxed atmosphere.
Using ingredients from Ishikawa, guests prepare a variety of dishes beloved in Japanese homes, from local specialties such as Sasa-zushi (sushi wrapped in bamboo leaves) to nationwide favorites like Okonomiyaki (savory “pancakes” made with shredded cabbage), Tamagoyaki rolled omelets, and sushi rolls. It is an unforgettable way to spend time cooking, eating, and chatting with local hosts and fellow guests.

Friendly, Knowledgeable Hosts
All of our home cooking teachers are locals, all with plenty of experience cooking at home direct from the heart, and not just from cookbooks. Our hosts also like to share personal stories about their everyday lives, their families, and local customs. The experience is focused on preparing food, but it also offers an opportunity to learn more about life in Japan and in Kanazawa through a conversational back-and-forth.
