Yuzen Hand-Painted Dyeing
A Joyful Energy, Woven into Fabric: A Mindful Practice of Yuzen Dyeing
Yuzen dyeing is a traditional Japanese technique defined by five vibrant colors, carefully layered by hand.
In this workshop, you paint your own Yuzen panel — moving brush to fabric with quiet focus, fully present in each moment.
As you paint, time softens.
Attention settles into color, line, and breath, turning the act of creation into a moment of mindfulness.
That sense of stillness lingers, gently carried into the work you leave behind. The Yuzen you create today is not meant to be decoration alone.
It becomes a gentle presence in your home, adding subtle color and quiet strength to everyday life.

What is Yuzen Dyeing?
Yuzen dyeing is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique, long used to decorate kimono and textiles with intricate and refined designs.
The process begins by drawing delicate outlines, then carefully layering colors within those lines.
To prevent dyes from bleeding into one another, a special resist paste is applied—allowing for an exceptionally detailed, painterly expression with depth and clarity.
