Sushi-Making with a Michelin Chef

Learn how to make sushi with a Michelin Chef

At this point in time, we believe that it is not too far-fetched to say that sushi is the first thing that would come to most people’s minds when they heard the name Japan. The dish seems simple, yet sushi chefs spend almost all of their lives in order to master it. In this class, we aim to offer a rare chance to actually meet with someone who is traversing the path of sushi-making and learn all about sushi from them. You will not only get to make your very own, authentic sushi, but also get to have a meaningful conversation with the chef, listen to their story on why they decided to pursue the art, and hear how they are doing so.

Class Overview:
We will prepare everything for you! This includes in-season fish from the Sea of Japan (if you’re lucky, you might get to try some that the chef caught himself!), local sushi rice, and miso soup to finish the meal! The class will be held in an entirely private space at either the sushi restaurant itself or our studio, ‘unveil.’

① Listen to a detailed explanation on each ingredient that is used in the class, while also enjoying a conversation with the chef himself! Don’t worry if you don’t speak Japanese; our staff will translate for you.
② Get your hands on and make your very own sushi! You will get to make 15 pieces of sushi and arrange them on Kutaniyaki plates!
③ Enjoy the fruits of your hard work, and taste the fresh sushi that you made along with a special sushi soy sauce. To make sure that nothing goes to waste, the chef will also prepare a special dish from the leftover sushi rice for you!

Kanazawa and the Hokuriku region are well known for their bustling seafood scenes. The area is blessed with fantastic fish thanks to its proximity to the Sea of Japan and the cold current that fattens the fish. The high level of precipitation also contributes to the delicious rice for which Ishikawa Prefecture is renowned. Join us in this class to learn more about sushi and its culture!
